Yes, there is room for 3. Yes, we were thinking of adjustable barstools that could easy slide under the island. We are thinking whether to go with silver/gray or introduce another color like yellow. Kitchen opens into the Family room where one wall is painted yellow.

If you want to add barstools I would look for something backless, maybe round. If you can find something that is a contemporary stainless steel style it would match the rest of your kitchen well and you can add some color with the cushions.

Beautiful! Congratulations on a job well done!

Very nice, I would go with these in gun metal (stainless steel), have them in my house and they are amazing quality for the price. http://www.target.com/p/carlisle-metal-24-counter-stool-set-of-2/-/A-14604480

Certain hues of yellow would complement the plum color on the walls. But, the plum color just isn't working with the floor or the red appliance on the counter.. I think you're trying to go in too many directions. So, either match the stools to the hardware or appliances (the stainless steel ones).

Is there no natural light in the kitchen ? It's hard to tell

Square, low back, silver metal with medium gray leather. Gray would be a great neutral that would blend seamlessly with the lavender and yellow wall colors. Great job!

I'd love to see lucite here: it's functional, contemporary and it blends in without calling attention to itself. Even with backs it doesn't look heavy.

    Some options:

They have great ones at the Canadian tire ( if you're in canada ) hat I bought for my new island. They are adjustable and they slide under the island.

And they are cost efficient :)

Where are the bar stools going? Also, nice remodel, but it would look a lot better if most of that stuff on the counter top were stowed away somewhere. I see a lavender color on the walls, you could incorporate that color into the stools. Just be sure to make them upholstered = comfortable.

what are the rooms dimensions? the before layout looks identical to mine! Ive been wondering how an island could work for me and it looks like it could be great

Yes, agree I need to put things away but the kitchen is not complete yet. It has abundant amount of light from the backyard. Kitchen is open to the family room on one side and is facing the backyard/pool. Room dimensions are 15.5' by 13.5' . Island is 3ft by 7.4' . It's correct size island with plenty of room around it. Thanks for the suggestions, ordered silver /grey modern Barstools with low back and swivel

I bought stools like this for my reno:

    http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Gamma-Contemporary-Leather-Adjustable-Barstool/10036898/product.html?refccid=JM3P3BBMPPBJHBCI2VVPRTAN5U&searchidx=271

I called them my "potato chip chairs" as they look kinda like chips from the side -something I liked as the rest of my kitchen/counter was so linear - I liked the curves.

I also liked that the swirled (I like seating that rocks, glides or twirls), and that the height could raise and lower. And the BEST part is that they have a sort or "air cushion" - when you sit on it it isn't hard, it moves up and down a bit. And with the contour of the seat, it was comfy to sit on - didn't need a back or arms. Was very happy with them. Since sold the property and moved, otherwise I would still have them.

I think that the red appliance works well with the plum walls and floor. I like brushed stainless to complement the range hood. I agree that lucite could work too. Backless or low back to be unobtrusive.

Wow! Anyone who can remodel a kitchen in such good taste should have no problem picking the perfect stools. I think you just wanted us to see a GREAT b/4 & after! Thanks!

    What a change!

    Orange leather bar stools.

Personally, I would go with either stainless or plum barstools :)

What cabinet brand did you decide to go with? I am trying to remodel my kitchen but do not want to spend the typical 30k or more that most contractors and companies price it out to be
  • 10 years ago

Love the idea of yellow stools... pops of color always make a space feel brighter and happier.
