Red Fox Urine Deterrent for Chipmunks

I have chipmunks in the walls of my sun room. I just ordered fox urine to try to repel them. Has anybody used it? And how is it applied? Should it be diluted and used in a spray bottle?

I am desperate. They are having a party in the walls - making knocking noises, rolling bowling balls around (that's exactly it sounds like) and other noises. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

For the most part the only people that benefit from selling animal urine to repel other animals, such as fox urine to repel chipmunks, is those that sell it. Few good reliable studies that I have seen have indicated the urine works.

If you spray this stuff inside your walls, full strength, you will have an odor that will last for a long time, and it will get more unpleasant as time goes on.

How do they get in the walls? Is there more than one entry point? Find out how they are getting in and fix that to keep them out.

Actually, predator urine is a pretty effective deterrent against various small mammals. But its use is intended for outdoors only. You will seriously regret attempting to use it for any sort of indoor animal activity. Ken's right - you need to contact an exterminator. They are skilled in trapping and removing unwanted visitors. And you do need to investigate how they got into the walls and seal up any openings. Or you could very well have something larger and more unpleasant moving in!!

My friend went through this summer with a momma raccoon and babies in her flat roof "attic" space. She did calll critter control and they did use coyote urine eventually. They tried other things first. It took probably 2 months before Ms. Raccoon left and they could seal up the tiny space she used to get in.

I think the friend will need to redo the insulation in that area because of urine.

What a pain! My friend stayed outside at dusk to see how the raccoon was coming and going. Turns out it was a small triangle of space where the valley of roof is, not bigger than your hand and completely opposite from where her nest was.

Critter people deal with this every day and sort of know what tell tale signs to look for.

I had no intention of using it indoors! I live in a retirement community and they have a contract with an exterminator who came two weeks ago and set a trap which the chipmunk ignored. Guy couldn't find the entrance hole so he just put the trap along the edge of the house. I thought he would be more effective than that.

After he left, we found the hole and my husband set a squirrel trap with peanuts which the chipmunk entered but escaped after eating the peanuts. The trap is too big for chipmunks so we ordered a small chipmunk trap.

My husband sprayed a garlic spray around the house that we used to deter mosquitoes. So far, I haven't heard them. Maybe that worked. Hope the fox urine will work. If not, there's always the trap. Some things you just have to figure out yourselves...lol

use shelled peanuts.. and wire them in the trap ...

but then you have to figure out what to do with them .... relocation is illegal in many places ...

back in the day.. i used rat traps with almonds wired to the trap .... i thought i had a million of the beasts ... got 3 of them.. and all my problems ended ... go figure .. hyperactive fuzzy rats ... lol ...

if you can not envision the ultimate removal ... hire someone who can either do that.. or legally move them ... as an example in my area .... see link.... i was into home remedies with a skunk momma ]...

i have no idea how to do all this in a community ...

    ken

this type of dude.. will probably also find the access point... with his experience level ...

There are exterminators and there are "exterminators" . Some know what they are doing and some have no idea but get paid anyway. I*f this "exterminator" could not find the points of entry either he did not try very hard or knew not what he was doing.
