What are you asking the dealers? Just what is it you're looking for?

I had the same problem, Gramatina! I knew exactly what I wanted and called a dozen or more dealers looking for it. Only one dealer had any interest in selling me anything other than their display models; most of them seemed to have no interest in selling me anything at all. I walked through the model that dealer had encouraged me to visit, saying it was similar to the home I wanted. He was correct, and I ordered that home with many changes, from making it 4 feet longer to added insulation to moving the refrigerator. The dealer is the most important thing, Gramatina, even more important than the manufacturer.

cathyyg is right! And I hate to say it, but women aren't treated as seriously when they are the ones calling. Christopher_H makes a good point too. Know exactly what you want, and exude confidence when you call! I actually write out what I want to say and what questions I need answered when I make business type calls, so I don't get flustered and forget to ask the important questions. If it's important to YOU, it's an important question. Finally, I would say, if they can't be bothered with you over the phone, they won't be any better in person! If you aren't treated with courtesy, dignity, and respect--move on! THEY aren't worth YOUR time!! Good luck!
