Yellow Buffalo Check

I have looked for quite a while for yellow buffalo check curtains for a bedroom. Country Curtains shows what looks to be perfect, however they are listed as being gold and they are quite expensive for my budget. I have not even been able to find fabric in yellow. Does anyone have any ideas where to look? I cannot picture anything else in that room! I have done dozens of searches for months.

I think you might have better luck if you search for yellow 1" gingham fabric or curtains. It's the same as buffalo check!

This is the color of those from Country Curtains. They may be listed as "gold", but this is definitely yellow. In my previous home I bought from Country Curtains for a couple of rooms and was never disappointed in their quality. I almost ordered these exact Buffalo Check curtains at one time. I think they're lovely!

You prefer yellow as in "lemon yellow"? I'd say the Country Curtains are gold. Pretty, but not quite a yellow. However I believe returns would be easy with CC if you'd like to try the gold.

Country curtains used to send swatches which would be a good way to check the color in your house and your light. I know the founder died recently and they have changed a bit so they may not do it any more. They do have more sales than they used to so perhaps if you sign up for their mailing list you might be able to get a discount if you like the color.

You should be able have a sample of the fabric sent to you from Country Curtains. If not and if you're not in a big hurry, I might be able to help you out. I have a return at Country Curtains, but it's a bit of a drive and right now I'm not sure when I'll be getting out there. However, when I do, I'd be happy to pick up a sample of the fabric and sent it to you.

I can attest to the quality of the fabric & construction of the Country Curtains buffalo check curtains. I've had them in Black/Cream on the sliders to my BR balcony for nearly 9 years. They've held up well and despite being unlined and getting full afternoon sun have shown little fading. They were a good value IMHO.

Buffalo check is a LARGE gingham check--I found several yellow 1" gingham checks--so you still might want to do a search for yellow 1" gingham check--if you think a 1" check is big enough.

The Country Curtain buffalo check would certainly work, but they are way over my budget. They are really perfect and I cannot find anything else I like nearly as well, hate when that happens!

Just a thought...Do you sew? If you are considering a simple, tailored, unlined style would you consider making them?

My curtains above have pocket rod openings but I opted to use curtain rings instead. For that style you would, essentially, only have to construct rectangles with finished edges.

When my DD had Roman shades made and couldn't find the fabric she wanted locally, she discovered there are a lot of online fabric sites. If you can source the yellow check fabric that might be a way to get just what you want & keep to your budget.

Tijeras: I looked at the curtains you like on the Country Curtain website. I specifically looked at the tie backs to see if I could figure out the size of the check. The tiebacks are 3" wide, and it looks like there are 1 & 1/2 "checks" in this width. So you might need a 2" check size.

Here's a link to a yellow buffalo check fabric, if you decide to make your own curtains. It's about $17 a yard, so depending on your window size, you might save some money over the Country Curtains pair. Simple draperies are really easy to sew!

    Anyway--good luck in your quest!

Even I can sew simple curtain panels and my sewing instruction ended in 8th grade. I even made a lined valance from a how-to I found online.

I'm with amck2's recommendations to go with rings. Not only does it make planning and sewing easier, but it's a real pain to move curtains using a rod pocket, plus you never really can move them completely to the sides as you can with rings.

I have done a quick search for the check, but so far have found nothing. I think that's the way I will have to go. Very grateful for all of the input I have received!

Thank you Jenny! I feel much better now knowing they are the wrong color! Now I'm having trouble finding the buffalo check fabric in yellow, so then I started searching for a pretty yellow print. Who knew finding yellow curtains would be so hard?

The only one I've found is at Decorative Fabics Direct (never dealt with them personally), 17.99 a yard for 2 1/2" buffalo check in sunshine yellow (and white). I don't get why it's so hard to find yellows either, I want some for my kitchen but am really finding it difficult to find any kind of array of patterns and tones of yellow, makes ya wanna yell. lol
