purple passion

I picked up Cstar Purple Passion last september as a 1 gallon and single tip. Got very excited when a late info formed. Now opened....disappointed. Very small flowers, BUT does have a scent....where is the purple?

There are lots of new Thailand plumerias that supposively have that true purple and I'm sure some are really purple. They need heat to bring it out as heat usually darkens colors. I've actually heard some purples require half day shade to bring the purple to its full potential. As far as flower size most are small but I have my eye on one called purple serendipity and in many pictures it's not that purple but I know someone in Arizona that has it and it's a big 4-5inch purple as purple gets. It's very nice.

I think the closest you'll come to purple Plumeria is Jacks Purple And The Rare JL Metallica Plumeria ..

Rox, Maybe in a high heat high humidity environment it will be a more vivid purple. In my climate I think the best deep "near purple" is still Duke.

Just reread this old post. Ended up putting Purple Passion in the ground, taking off. Got Duke last year and have it in the ground in a very warm courtyard area. We shall see. Have Purple Jack in a pot..lavendar at best. Have read that Metallica won't do well in my area.
