oh i expect i've dated my kitchen to the 'mid-teens' by having an quarter sawn oak island with black honed granite, and white shaker perimeter cabinets topped with marble look quartz. but i dont care a bit, its very in keeping with my historic home, which is itself very dated to the 70s (1870s, that is). and really the next owner in the distant future will either love it or hate it but probably change it to something else anyway.

there is nothing you can do which wont either be dated to the present or dated to when what you want was in style. all you can do is make things easy to change or else love them for what they are.
