Thanks for the reply. I will check those cloves closer at the basal plate, it could be the way I took the picture, but I will surely check. I have also sent samples to the Cooperative Extension Office for a diagnosis. I hope its not fusarium.

It could be anything IMHO. Garlic is prone to all kinds of rots and it is hard to tell the difference. Good to send it out for diagnosis.

What variety of garlic? For some this appearance is normal; this is far enough from harvest for the shortest keeping varieties to start to dry out, meaning you are probably late doing the dehydration. Bad spots can be pruned out leaving the rest to dry. Personally I would simply trim the bad spots where they occur, nip off the basal plate and run them through the spice mill to chop up ahead of the drying trays. Most of the rest of the cloves should fine with just the basal plate nipped off.
