Could you share the shingle material and how it was treated?

I am doing an addition to a house which has western red cedar siding that I did not stain since I love the weathered look. The problem is that over 5yrs it is weathering unevenly and will now have to be treated or stained dark to match the new construction. Any advice? The cedar siding on this home is beautiful!

These are untreated, eastern white shingles. The photography was done within the first six months of completion so it is not showing the signs of weathering yet. Here is a link to a series of photos taken of the house a few years later. http://panocea.us/house-on-punkinville-road/ Good luck.
