I'd put the dining table at the window end too. It gives that end of the long room a clear purpose and keeps the route from the kitchen into the seating area open. Before finalizing it, tape out the table and leave about 36 inches behind the chairs when they're pulled out so the walkway still works.

I wouldn't skip overhead light entirely, but I also wouldn't center a chandelier in the room. Center it on the table after the table position is settled. If the electrical point can't move, an adjustable pendant or a short track is safer than locking the layout too early. The sconces and lamps can handle the general mood, while a dimmable light over the table makes meals and cleanup much easier.

I would place the dining table near the large window, as you suggested, and still include a pendant light above it. The sconces and lamps will create lovely ambient lighting, but a pendant centered over the table will visually define the dining area within the great room and provide more useful light for meals.
