We have done it for many of our projects. However, it needs to be designed so that it works and is attractive and there is some method of separating the spaces visually. You don't want to walk right into the kitchen......you still need some form of entry area even if it is entirely open to the space....Why not hire a professional to help you ? An architect can be very useful and will make sure that you remove the wall properly..........
