Fall color

The hostas in my garden have not offered much in the fall color department this season, must be the weather. Most just dried up and browned from the edges. Went looking today and found two I decided to share.

Glad you shared! Mine usually look all buggy holed by the time they turn color.

That is a beautiful transition for those two - can you please identify them?

You found two that still had enough green in them to make those leaves pop...it always makes me pause to admire the beauty nature bestows upon us.

Thank you for sharing, Sherry. :)

The first one is one of my Elegans. The second is Dream Queen. My Elegans was photographic last season too. The fall color was totally different last year.

Thank you, Sherry! I have a new, young-but-full Elegans and can't wait for the rounded leaves to develop.

Fragrant Dream shares same location as So Sweet and is just starting to take on fall colour - onset of dormancy is calling

Blue Cadet - I've never seen it in this light at this time of season ... A very pleasant surprise this year.

Don't forget to poke/click on the pics to enlarge! :)

    Blue Angel

Thanks for looking! And, Thanks for getting me out there for one last look, Sherry!

Here are a few of the potted ones ready to be clipped and tipped over after the big freeze. The ones in bigger pots still need to be hauled into position (oh my back).

This post should precede the last one above...I inadvertently deleted it earlier.

After reading Sherry's reply, I ran out quickly but barefooted to look under the deck, then around the side of the house. Look what I found still looking good...

So Sweet - it defies everything!

    Dream Queen

    Cold Heart

The Minnesota Mafia - Glenn's favourite at Hosta Choice... I understand now why.

Francee looks invincible - thin white edge still apparent

    This is Olive Bailey Langdon

    Candy Dish looking yummy.

Josephine, you've got some nice ones too! I like your Cold Heart and your Blue Cadet. BC reminds me of my halcyon. I was hoping halcyon would show me some nice color but it looks really weird this fall, has a lot of gray....yuck. Here is my Corkscrew, fall hasn't got it yet, I'm guessing because it's a really late bloomer.

Don't have Corkscrew but it sure looks like it has got some good substance to it!

Great color on Imagine, don't think I've ever seen that on anything in my yard!

Loved seeing all your hosta in fall color. I've not taken many fall photos this year, but here are a few. That Imagine is a standout.

    Dark Star:

Here is War Paint. Not that great a photo, but you can see that it can be quite pretty.

The last two are Great Expectations. Depending on what kind of fall we have, it can produce lovely coloration.

Imagine is outstanding! And right there with it is War Paint - gorgeous pumpkin colour ... White in GE really makes it (pumpkin colour) pop! Great shots!

    Start a 'Revolution'...

    ...on the 'Night Before Christmas'.
