Your home is beautiful!! Yes, lamps are needed in order to avoid overhead lighting.

I would still add an end table that isn't so structured and formal - ones you have aren't that imposing. I would also add some patterned pillows. I think the room needs a bit of pattern.

It is a very nice space. I'd add a chair between the window and fireplace. Add drapes to the window so it don't look so bare. I'd also add a large center piece on your coffee table and large canvas on the wall going toward the dinning room. Your furniture it gorgeous and you have done a great job expressing your style in the living room and dinning room.

It might just be the angle the picture was taken, but the extra chairs now in the dining room look crowded. It looks like there is enough room next to the front door to put them just around the corner from where they are now (there looks to be a black bag on the floor right where I'm talking about).

I think the small round table you moved in between the couch and the chair is too small a scale. I would move the square table (looks to be two level glass table) that is now "floating" and put it between the couch and chair. Try putting the small round table that you moved from between the two dining chairs where the square table is now. It still might be too small, but the scale probably won't look so bad since it's not sitting in such a big square space.

And I know you didn't ask for this, but if it was me I'd try the couch where the chairs are now and put the chairs where the dining chairs used to be and I'd want some sort of bar stools looking into the kitchen.

Thank you all for the feedback. Hi Anita- we had plantation shutters on the Windows earlier but I got then removed to get more light in. The plan now is to get roller shades so that the woodwork doesn't get hidden.
Hi Lila- I tried multiple placements with the chairs and the couch, have tried what you have suggested as well but to me the current placement seemed most inviting. I see what you are saying about the end table. It is actually too big for the space between the couch and the chair. Next to the small end table I plan to get either a very big vase or floor lamp to make it look more complete.

Those seated on the sofa should have access to the coffee table to put down a drink or book, so it should be no more than 18" from the sofa to be useful. That's the only table the sofa need. The brass end table and the slim round table don't work well with your chunky, rustic/industrial coffee table, but the other round table has the heavy pedestal more in keeping with the heft of the coffee table. However, with a round table, chairs should sit on an angle, and I don't think your chairs will look as good angled as they do side by side. For now, use the brass table there so they can continue to sit square, but try to replace it with square or rectangular table. You might find a second hand one to paint orange or to match like the chair trim. I'd like to see those two tall chairs brought back into the space flanking the fireplace. Use true lumbar pillows on them though, instead of those larger throw pillows. If you have a convenient outlet, add a floor lamp at one end of the sofa. You might enjoy an arc lamp that would hover above the coffee table.

I'm so glad the dining chairs have moved back to the dining room. I agree with deco about the side tables. I'd remove the smaller round one altogether and then either use the brass one between the two chairs (as deco suggested) or I think it might be fine to continue using chunky round one with the squared chairs. But, if the chunky round one stays between the chairs, I'd remove the brass one altogether.

Looking again at the recent pics. I think I would remove both the sofa side tables, keep the chunky round between the squared chairs and move the ottoman opposite the chair pair (squared at the other end of the coffee table). The ottoman would fit there nicely (with plenty of walking room) if the brass table were removed.

Ok- good advise all and taking into consideration what everyone has suggested I have tweaked the placement of the end tables to make them blend better.

I think that's better with the tables this way. I'd continue to tweak the placement of the ottoman. Not exactly sure where the exact best spot would be, but I'd try some different alignments and live with each for a day or so.

this arrangement looks nice but you could use some ambient lighting.

Small detail, but the small round table might look better on the wood floor with the round globe on top.(presently sitting on the other table)

a suggestion for the lamp on the opposite end table would be a simple base antique brass lamp that picks up the metal from the wheels on the coffee table for continuity. Pic of suggested style of lamp

I am always amazed by how much your suggestions help me in bringing my living room together. Just small tweaks in placement makes such a significant difference to the look and feel, without throwing out any of my acquired pieces. Here are the latest pics, please do keep the advise coming. I am getting some sheer curtains for the Windows apart from that please do let me know if I need anything else.

I really love your room, especially the pairing of the pillows with your chairs (next to the sofa). I also like the ottoman and its' placement but it seems a bit small in proportion to your other furniture pieces. Is there a chance that you can add another one to balance that space (or possibly add a longer, bench - length piece? Other than that, your room is really coming together well!
