Kitchen cabinets

As I view the beautiful kitchen pictures... I note that most of the cabinets are white. We are building a home, we tend to be transitional in style, and are not sure if we should put in white or antique white.... ( creamy looking)... Shaker style seems to be the most popular also. It is retirement home for us... And we are afraid wood tone would be too dark since we have dark wood floors. So the question is.... Is white the most popular or antique white? We have not decided on the granite or quartz color yet, as we will be putting in Laminate until we can afford the granite/ Quartz. Also... What is you preference .... Quartz or granite. I understand about the sealing of the granite, but I have not had to seal my present granite since I put it in 4 years ago, so I am a bit confused about the necessity of sealing. Quartz seems very versatile..? Thank you

Look at these neutrals that are not quite white but give the light effect for the most transitional result. This is Sherwin Williams Wool skein here combined with riverway . . both are probably antiqued. if you have dark floors, the light colors are best, but dark floors and white cabinets feels a bit more modern than you likely want.

Actually I do like more contemporary feels.... But I usually mix them with traditional... So that is why I use transitional as my style. Thank you for including your picture as I got to view how the creamy or antique white cabinets look against the white crown molding... Not sure I like the contrast as much as if I saw white white next to the crown molding. The hard wood floors, as I stated, are dark wood color. I personally wanted to put in a tile floor in the kitchen, but designer and my husband wanted the more consistent look since there will be an island and it is a great room. Thank you

Hi there,

We find white is the most popular colour for a kitchen.. however a soft warm toned gray also is very popular with us.

If I was going to suggest a white I would suggest Benjamin Moore's cloud white OC-130 (creamy) or Benjamin Moore's Oxford white CC-30 (starker).

We also love Benjamin Moore Skipping stone CSP-155 (warm grey tone).

As for countertops quartz is usually preferred as it is maintenance free and less susceptible to staining and etching. However some suppliers do offer a 25 year sealer for your granite so if you loved the "natural, one of a kind" look that granite offers then that may certainly be an option for you.

Some of my favorite colours are London Grey & Calcatta Nuvo (Caeserstone) Ella, Ellesmere & Berwyn (Cambria).
