I think you need a loooot of inspiration boards. Such as detailed boards on Pinterest. Try making boards of styles you like and then talk to an architect.

Another thing you can do is asking for remodling projects online. There different crowdsourcing platforms online such as cocontest.com where you can recieve dozens of projects, for the price of just one, blueprints and renders included.
