Blah wall

How would you dress up this wall. Also, any suggestions on rearranging the furniture?

The arrangement looks ok. Do you need another chair? Just a note, your rug is too small. Front legs of furniture needs to be on rug. And your mirror is too high on wall. Maybe some art will do better there. Let me see what I can find. Would like to bring in an accent color. Don't see any there?

What color would you paint the walls? I know I need a bigger rug. Lol

I agree with Susan that art above the sofa would look best. Also, I think a chair is a bit lonely without a little table to put a beverage on. How about something different, like a small rust color garden stool? I'd also suggest moving the floor lamp by the chair. That way, you'll have lighting in a "triangle". The table lamp, floor lamp and chandelier in nearby dining area.

Do you need to paint? It's just that everything in the room is the same color. I would replace the curtains and rug or at least take the valance down.

Love the idea of the garden stool and I will move the lamp. You don't think the corner where the lamp was would look empty?
Love the first one! You are amazing. Thank you so much.

Where can I buy that picture?

No, I don't think it will look too bare without the floor lamp there. But, it may be a "dark" corner so how about just putting a low wattage floor up light ($15). It will give a nice glow in the corner and won't look bare at all.

All of the pictures are from Pier 1. Hang something else on that wall by window after you move lamp. Maybe hang the mirror vertically there. That will reflect the light from your table lamp.

Shop for a new rug that you love first, then take a color from it for your paint. I think you could use a smaller coffee table and I'd like to see the drapes without the country valance.

The valances are coming down and I'm going shopping today. I never liked that coffee table in there. I thought maybe an oval one but yes I agree it's to big. I'll be busy shopping the next few days. Thank you so much for all of your advice. I'll post new pictures!! I'm so excited, can't wait!

The mirror is blah. Add art as others have suggested.

The pictures are very grainy but the coffee table doesn't look bad. Maybe just a little too tall.

The room looks wonderful, and I love the furniture and the arrangement. However, the mirror is too high above the sofa, and it should be brought down so that the bottom edge of the frame is four to 12 inches above the back of the sofa. You might find companion pictures to put on each side of the mirror to fill in the space.

If you plan to paint the walls, I would suggest a pale green or pale aqua to complement the rust you have chosen for the accent color.

Three Mirror Windows behind the sofa might look great.

Loving the potential of this room and the suggestions so far, if I may provide my own thoughts. I think that the key would be to trying to open up the space, making it light and airy with lighter curtains where possible and focusing on the hints of decor rather than overwhelming it with heavy furnishings. Add touches of color with throws and pillows to really give it a pop using wool and tweeds and hints of dark wood. Looking forward to seeing more, good luck.

Ok progress to date; mirror gone, valances gone, new larger rug, lowered coffee table, new lamp shades, moved lamp by chair. Still needs pillows (deciding on colors) and picture for behind sofa.

Love that a colour in the rug is repeated in patterned pillows and then the botanicals hung above the sofa. The bright afghan adds one more appearance of the accent colours.

    Your L/R is great !!

Maybe use accent pieces like these in whatever colour you like.

    Just a few suggestions:

    1. When you go shopping, take one of the sofa pillows with you as a colour guide.

    2. A pillow with texture (i.e. the embroidered pillow cover by Birch Lane above) will add more visual interest to your room.

    3. There are some lovely pillow options at T.J.Maxx. At 'The Home Store' and 'Tuesday Morning' you might find a nice combination for the wall art and pillows.

Wow, what a difference. Good Job. Like the new rug. My only suggestion is to add a tree to corner to balance out that wall. With the clock and table/lamp we are a little lopsided. When you get your picture and pillows picked out, look for a tall skinny tree and I think you're set!
