Supplemental light question

What kind of schedule do you folks out there using supplemental light employ? I have one T5 going 18/6 but wondering if I should dial it back a bit for the winter. Conversely, most of my plants are new or immature so then I was thinking let's go 24/7! Juuust kidding.

I know nothing. I need some of aurorawa's brain.

I do 16 hours starting mid-April through til October 15. Then, until the middle of April the following year, down to 12 hours.
