Ha! I just mentioned in another post how much I liked 'Leslie Ann', and here's a great photo to illustrate why... In my experience, it's a great plant that blooms reliably, but even better- the flowers themselves are consistently attractive; not always the case with sasanqua-types.

@Dave in NoVA: How's your Leslie Ann doing, eight years later? Would you still recommend it? About how much sun does it get? I'm thinking of using it in a sunny south-facing spot in Maryland zone 7 (just outside DC). Thanks!

afrocraft , it's doing fine. Mine gets a fair amount of sun, and the foliage can get just a bit bronzed in a really cold winter, but it has never died back. I like it a lot and all, but I might opt for a solild deep pink or red in that spot if I were to do it all over again (like October Magic Ruby). Leslie Ann looks good close up, but I think a solid deeper color would stand out from further away (the street).

i've grown this one for several years and agree with you that the flowers look like mini-roses early on. mine is at the edge of a wooded area and will be getting more sun after i finally clear out some of the under and over growth. she is a charmer and, if i recall correctly, is actually named for the daughter of a local nursery man in my area. it is either this shrub or perhaps another. could be the one i had named 'ashley eden' which was lost to drought some years back.

many have already reached peak bloom and this sudden cool period might bring on more flowers.
