Glade Vanilla candle- smells FANTASTIC ! When we were selling our house, we lit this candle 1 hour before showings. We would walk the lit candle into the garage to blow it out and place it on the work bench. By doing this we maintained the lovely bakery smell in the house. One did not smell the noxious smoke. The house agents would walk in and ask if we baked cookies. No headaches or complaints were ever reported.

I don't use them or scented candles. Some tend to give me a headache.

Candles are parrifin wax even without the toxic fragrance chemicals burn some very nasty VOCs. That's why most people get headaches from them.

Baking Soda with Essential Oils

Wow, so many downers on scents! I do keep my house clean and mostly use vinegar and baking soda, and leave windows open in nice weather, but there is nothing wrong with scent. I like to scent my bathrooms with floral scents and I use berry and chocolate in the kitchen. I buy a lot of Yankee Candle's wax melts and candles. I like the wax you leave in the container and the bulb heats it.

If you dont know about Fragrance Toxicity please educate yourself. In this day and age of information technology there is no reason for cognitive dissonance.

Yes, everything is a chemical. I worked in research for two decades. The old adage the dose makes the poison is a fallacy. Unfortunately, it is not very scientific to assign a single threshold dose to the entire population because individuals have specific responses in their uniquely specific biological system. Some populations may have a genetic susceptibility to certain chemicals, thereby those individuals will respond atypically towards a toxin. The statement “dose makes the poison” is not appropriate when taking in wide variable populations with different genetic makeups. Individuals with mild mitochondrial defects, polymorphism (SNPs) in gene alterations, low glutathione, or anaphylactic reactions do not fit in generalizations. So for some there are no safe levels.

Don't cover up the smell, eliminate it.

Be careful with essential oils. Some of them are very strong and can cause their own problems as stated above.

I use a Lavender or Jasmin air freshener like once a week after general cleaning a room and usually when everyone is out. I also like scented candles but again not all the time, when the weather permits and it is nice and breezy, a prefer an open window.

I agree with regarding chemicals in products, we should take more care. I absolutely hate fly killer so keep flies now at bay by keeping doors shut.

Fly spray killers are dangerous I believe, as one week I was spraying a little area and someone opened the door and the spray blew towards my face, ( this was ages back) but it had me very, very sick for 1-2 week. I never usually use spray but my daughter in law had some insects in her room and that's what happen-now I leave them to it!
