Question on stand-alone wall cabinet, and Kraftmaid.

I am ordering Kraftmaid cabinets from Home Depot. I was surprised by the note in the Kraftmaid installation manual that indicated that a standalone wall cabinet (one that is not attached to any other cabinets), needs to either be supported from below or attached to the ceiling, or it could fall off the wall. Is this normal procedure, or does it reflect some potential weakness in the Kraftmaid quality?

My contractor had never heard of this issue, but I do see that by attaching to an adjacent cabinet, you do get some extra structural stability (2 boxes are stronger than 1 box)
