What would you do?

Buy the SMALLER table 76" unextended and put it under the chandelier with the CHINA CABINET ON THE WALL DIRECTLY BEHIND IT and the buffet on the empty wall on the other side of the room. Maybe a love seat and ottoman in front of the window and an electric fireplace in the middle where the wall comes out.
or

Buy the LARGER table 92" unextended and put it under the chandelier and NO China cabinet directly behind it on the wall (not enough room) but instead PUT THE CHINA CABINET ON THE OTHER EMPTY WALL where the buffet would go and obviously no buffet at all then.

Please give me your suggestions! I envisioned the China cabinet on the wall by the chandelier but now I'm wondering if the larger table would be better considering we both have large families, although I would love the storage of both a buffet and China cabinet! We won't really use the rooms unless we have everyone over for dinner. Driving myself crazy! Open to all suggestions! :)

dear daisy....you do not have enough floor space for the furniture you like. It will overwhelm it. If there is enough space, I would suggest a 60" round dining table. You can fit six at least. Instead of a fireplace, for storage you are lacking in the dining room, put a buffet console in the living space with maybe a tv on top? A small sofa in front of the windows, two accent chairs facing the sofa, coffee table and lamps, and area rug.

I've got a very similarly sized space (23.5 x 11) and I can tell you that it fills up very, very fast. your layout is actually better than mine as I have a built in gas fireplace and also have to leave a path to the sliding door which is the only access to the back yard. I haven't been able to fit a 5 ft wide table in my space. Remember you need enough space to pull the chairs out to sit down in, plus the person who will sit in it. I have a China hutch and a small table and it is crowded. you'll want at least 2 ft per side to move the chairs plus width of table and hutch. My current table is 33" x 48" and we finally have a comfortable space to move around in. I've had 42 x 72 and it was tight. if I did round I'd have to do 40" or less.

ok, I measured my dining area. I think my layout is sort of opposite to yoursand I have an open kitchen adjacent. the overhanging counter cuts the width of the dining down to 10 ft, and by borrowing part of the walkway to the door to move chairs I've got about 9 x10 for my whole dining area. So that probably means you have the flexibility to do a 42-48" wide table. if I were you, I'd get a table that had extendable leaves that could be put in/unfolded when needed for family dinners and just expect the table will extend into the rest of the area temporarily. (it might be easier with a round table, but my husband really dislikes them, so... )
