Not silly at all - good idea, so much reusable stuff gets thrown away these days. Make sure you get a cost for the work before you go ahead though.

Great idea! We had a contractor who noticed that the kitchen cabinets we were getting rid of would fit perfectly as upper cabinets in our reconfigured laundry room. So happy he saw that! Saved money and resources. There is so much unnecessary waste in demo - often cabinets are still in usable condition. I think Habitat for Humanity ReStore will take used cabinets in good condition, and probably other organizations as well. Just because you are done with them doesn't mean they must end up in a landfill!
