Its difficult to see the colors clearly due the dark image. However, perhaps you could use pops of blue? Here are a couple inspiration photos. Feel free to check out our projects for more inspiration. :)

Hi Sandy, I'm not a professional but thought I would see if I could help you. When I look at your photo, the first thing I notice is the distinct lack of color. Everything seems beige. I would start by choosing a couple of pieces of fabric from a fabric store that speaks to you - choose something colorful that brings a smile to your face; Be sure they are pieces of fabric with multiple hues which will give you options for your room. Get a yard of the samples and take them into your dining room to see how the colors change from the light. Next, I would take down your beige draperies - they seem to add to the darkness of the room and they are really too short for the window. If you wish to keep them, you can always add on a border of color to the bottom or the top to lengthen the draperies and it would tie them into your new color scheme. Using the light you have, choose a color from the fabrics which reflects the light and pleases you. You can paint the walls in this color, or paint just one wall (perhaps the window wall) with one of the colors of the fabric as an accent wall. You can use the fabric to have cushions made for your chair and find art pieces to tie into the scheme. Citrus colors would tie well into your beige colors as would blue. Here are a few images I found that might help you.

The first photo has a lot of reds and the colors are pulled from the rug. The second photo is beige, blue and white and this third, the color pallet comes from the painting. Your inspiration can be from a piece of fabric, a rug, or a piece of art. Whichever you choose, use colors you love. Also, in two of these pictures, look at the drapery. Panels run from the ceiling to the floor and look more elegant. You might even want to consider a softly hued sheer, which would allow as much light as possible filter into the room and yet lend elegance to the room. Hope this helps!

I love all your ideas! thank you. The style of the red room draws me, but I would like the curtains in blue. The room was just painted this summer so I really have to work with the khaki walls. We also are close to the beach. I would love to bring that look into the room. Maybe navy? Again, thank you. My creative juices started.
