You have to be extremely discerning when buying any seed online. So many vendors claim to be selling seeds from X plant, but, in reality, you end up with lettuce or chia or some other common seed.

Hoya seeds are only viable for a few days, so, unless the person selling them has pods that are due to ripen within a few days and plans on shipping them THE DAY the pod splits and ripens, you are unlikely to be successful.

The cheapest way to re-start your collection is through trading cuttings or buying cuttings. It is also the safest way, as seeds can be intentionally sold as hoya seeds, even if they aren't, AND there is no guarantee of what the seedling will look like. With cuttings, you know you are getting a hoya, and, if the seller is reputable, you will get a photo of the cutting or plant the cutting is coming from, so you know what the cutting looks like.

It is not difficult to germinate the seeds, they germinate quickly, humidity and a heat mat are a given. Depending on the type of hoya, they can grow quickly, but it is generally a slow process, and you may not see peduncles for years. That's another reason to opt for cuttings.
