Backsplash to match Cambria Brittanicca? Help!

We recently had Cambria Brittanicca installed in our kitchen and we're having a difficult time selecting a backsplash. Cabinets are Benjamin Moore White Dove....should we do a traditional subway tile, bevelled subway tile, a 3x12 in white or a marble tile? Photos included.

Great pictures Sue!! I am about to start with Brittanica, but I need to finalize backsplash and cabinet color. I am leaning towards a more greige color for tile, but wondering what color the paint is on your cabinets. Thanks, your kitchen came out beautiful!

My cabinets are SW Snowbound and the tile that really goes with the Britannica is from Floor and Decor it’s subway tile - gosh I forgot the name! I’ll look it up.

Ahh, it’s Metro Gray subway tile from Floor and Decor. The backsplash behind the stove is Abalone tile. I wish I would have used a gray grout so that it would blend better.

We are getting ready to do our kitchen and having a hard time picking a backsplash to go with the cambria brittanicca too. Here are some of my ideas, I really like the grey subway tile that Sue posted. I need help too

Be careful using marble with Cambria bc the colors really don’t match. I thought about using the one in your first picture but the colors were really off and I wanted to make the Cambria the star rather than the backsplash. In hindsight I would have done the subway tile behind the stove too.

Just went to another store and found this. Your backsplash really helped me figure out what direction to go in. Yours really complements the Cambria.

Nice!! I get the keys to my new house tomorrow, but...here's a pic of my backsplash with the Cambria Britannica. The backsplash isn't grouted here, but...it has white grout now and I love it.
I'll try to post a more updated picture later, but...I really like the way the Daltile Carrara M701 Subway complements the veining in the Britannica.

What color of walls did everyone do with their brittanica?

My kitchen faces north and is covered by trees so I needed to go light so I painted SW Agreeable Gray.

subway tiles are for subways, which are cold and dirty. ;)

Sue - Why in hindsight would you have used subway tile rather than the Idole Tear Grey? I'm about to use that behind my stove with Cambria Brittanica counters and white shaker cabinets -- going for a contemporary feel.

Absolutely bc I had them tear out the Idole and put in the Abalone. In hindsight I would have the subway run the length of the wall but too late for that!
Cam did you ever finish your backsplash? Curious to see pictures!

Did the Idole Tear Grey not look good with the Brittanica?

I have a wall 72" wide by 54" high behind my stove and a couple of cabinets (with Brittanica counters ending in a waterfall)...I want something that will not compete with the Brittanica but still add a touch of interest. I'm doing this ASAP--maybe next week)...and you are the only person who's had actual experience. I REALLY need your help!!! Thanks so much, Sue

Sorry I decided NOT to use the idol and put another wavy pattern that was white. Didn’t like it bc it was too white. So I had them tear it out and put the abalone up. I’m sure it will look beautiful on your wall!

Hi Sue, love your kitchen. Did you use Metro Gray Polished II Ceramic tile or Metro Gray Festival Glossy Ceramic tile?

Whoever asked about the tile it is Metro Gray from Floor and Decor not the Festival Gray.

    Thank you!

Hi all - we are just about to paint our custom cabinets and I'm worried that the BM White Dove paint color may not match the best- that's what we had on our trim, ceiling, doors, etc. Can anyone tell me if they have this paired Cambria Britannica and what you think? I saw one post above that it was a little dingy. I'm debating on whether I should change the color to something like Simply White. Does anyone have thoughts / suggestions? Thank you in advance for your help!

We went with Artistic Tile Tambourine Traps Watercolor White. Not for everyone, but some tiles are glazed, some matte, and some iridescent. Designer wanted Skara Brae but that was too bold for us so we went Britannica. We view the tile are a form of art, so hit the outlets under the back edge of the overhead cabinets. This photo doesn't due the blue justice. Our cabinet paint is from the factory -- DuraSupreme Linen White. DuraSupreme Feather is the island. The designer suggested BM Simple White or BM Cloud White for the walls, but those colors will look different on different surfaces. We went with Cloud White. It looks good in the day, a little yellow at night, but Simple White seemed too white. The Linen White (not BM) cabinets aren't perfect with the counter, but I really wanted that counter and the cabinets were ordered. The Britannica looks a little grey/white but I didn't want to have the walls go grey bc we're trying to warm it all up. You in Mpls by any chance? You can come over. :-)

HI Sue! Redoing my kitchen. I too like the cambria britannica, white shaker cabinets with brushed nickel hardware, your metro gray backsplash and agreeable gray walls. My island will be Waypoint cherry slate with the britannica countertop to add warmth as the round kitchen table in the corner has glass over dark stained wood base (similar to cherry slate). My question is flooring? Will do porcelain tile -matte but anyone have suggestions as size and colors that complement but don't compete with the countertops. Surrounding rooms have traditional honey oak hardwood floors, but i don't want wood in kitchen.

Also Sue, is your backsplash the metro gray polished II ceramic tile , 4x16, currently priced at 1.19. And are you still happy with your choice? Thanks.

I love love the tile. It’s very classic so it goes with many colors. Like I said I should have done the tile behind the stove too.

Thanks Sue, it is beautiful kitchen. Would you mind share which floor is yours? Is the subway tile easy to clean?

I am wondering in terms of maintenance, how is subway tile compared to just use Brittanica as the backslash? in terms of cost, how much difference are we talking about here? Will using Brittanica as backslash make the kitchen too busy compared to the subway tiles?

The wood floor was already in when we bought the house.
I would think the solid surface of the Cambria would be easier to clean bc no grout! I don’t know how much that would be bc we were on a budget.
Good luck and can’t wait to see!

It is extremely expensive to do your backsplash in Cambria Britannica - more than the total cost of the countertop because of the cost to cut it to a thinner slab for the walls. We are doing Cambria Britannica countertops and shaker cabinets. What color white paint would anyone recommend for the cabinets and a good choice for backsplash. Sounds like metro gray backsplash (is that a subway tile color?) Thanks for your input!

Hi Sandy Tyrian, we recommend considering Paper White by Benjamin Moore for a perfect pair with Brittanicca.

Can you recommend a white subway tile backsplash that would go well with BM Paper White cabinets and Britannica countertops?

Hi Sandy, we recommend visiting your local tile store to select a tile that fits your unique aesthetic and tastes.

Jennifer Qu. Love your backsplash tile above stove. Could you let me know product and pattern name. It's a lovely accent.

I found a really cool glass tile called Turning Point Crystal Glass Mosaic in Wild Mushroom that goes really well with Britannicca. It's the one on the right. The left is similar but is too busy. It might not go with your gray paint though.

    I don’t see the tile

Hey there, Gerri: Your observation re the mushroom tone really helped me a lot. We're just starting our kitchen gut and have been agonizing over what backsplash to use with Cambria Brittanica.

Thanks Mark! We just had them out to template our counter, so hopefully by early January I can finish and post photos :) Our kitchen remodel is looking amazing!!

Sadly, our house was destroyed in the Marshall Fire in Colorado just before NY Eve, so I won't be able to post pix of the finished remodel. So sad, they were literally hooking up our kitchen sinks hours before the fire :(

    Gerri. So sorry for you.

    Thanks, it stinks!!!

Hello All, I know this is an old thread, but hoping to get feedback on how your Cambria Britannica quartz is holding up? I read some negative post on other threads about it staining from water rings...? Has anyone experienced that? I am interested in the Matte finish....any feedback would be awesome! Also, anybody have pictures of the seam work on the countertops....how did the fabricator do in matching up the the pattern?

Dawn - We've had Cambria Brittanica quartz for almost 6 years. We've really liked it and love that it's easy to maintain and clean. We don't have any water rings. If you leave something on it that is red or dark colored for a long period of time, it may leave a very light stain after cleaning it off, but woud only be noticeable to those that know it's there. We didn't have any seams so i can't answer that question. I recommend the Cambria Brittanica quartz. Good luck!

lisamscott Thank so much for the feedback! How do you not have any seams? Do you have the Matte finish? Can you share some pictures? Do you have a well and do you see any water stains?

I do not have a matte finish and we do not have a well. Let me know if you want any specific pictures. My island does not have any seams.
