Granite is a natural stone and Quartz is engineered stone. Both will perform equally well. If you like natural stone, granite is the way to go. Quartz is made from quartz and its mixed with resin and they use pigments to apply color.

If I would be making a choice, I would go with Granite, simply because nothing beats the real thing.

I have Granite countertops and backsplash, in all bathrooms and the front porch... everything was installed 13 years ago, Granite still looks like it was installed yesterday not only indoors but outside also.

"Best"is relative-What would you like to achieve?

The 2 surfaces are close in price - so the question becomes-do you like pattern or sleek solid like the quartz? Even the granite which has the least movement in pattern is busy. You did not mention quartzite- Quartzite is a natural stone which-when sealed is sturdy. The patterns are muted yet elegant and natural.
