Wow, that's an impressive list. I'll try to compile it and add the potential other parent. Does anyone know of more? How likely would you reckon that La Paz or Tango (or La Pango) has papilio in it? The french site says so but I would have never guessed.

Thank you for the listings. I am still inclined to take Exotic Star for the "best" - I mean my favorite Papilio hybrid. Sure is I wonder how do we know that Opal Star is a hybrid with Papilio parentage.

"Santa Fe" (seems to be rare, and I remember that MariaVa showed some pictures)

and

"Santiago" (slight fragrance, dramatic contrast between burgundy red and the best white midrib in a trumpet shaped Knight Star Lily)

should both have been bred from (listed above) "Striped Panther" (stronger fragrance)

Below is a salient excerpt from the US Patent Application for 'Opal Star.'

HIPPEASTRUM PLANT NAMED 'OPAL STAR’

“The female or seed parent is the unpatented, wild-type
Hippeastrum papilio designated WT30. The
male or pollen parent is the unpatented, interspecific Hippeastrum hybrid
designated 97/4 (H. vittatum ‘WHITE’ x wild-type H. cybister designated WT40).”

Well, here's my creation too. Papilio x Exotic Star, named by Blanca as PapExStasy. This bulb has multiplied nicely although no other blooms to present. I actually have another seedling (2 + 7/8" in diameter) from this cross that is huge but has yet to bloom.
