It is my thoughts that nematodes are microscopic and do not like organics.. So my guess is the red mites are spider mites and the white worms are pot worms/springtails both are common in worm bins that are quite moist or bins that are fed grains . Adding more browns to the bedding will help with situation or you could insert a slice of bread , leave it overnight, the mites should be attracted to it and you can remove it the next day.

hummersteve, you may be right but from the pictures I've seen in GW forum pot worms are much longer than what I am seeing in my bin. Now that I think of it I don't recall seeing any of those tiny white worms in my outside bins, (the one with the white worms is in the garage @ 45-55F). I do have another bin in my basement which did have some of the red mites (gone now) but no signs of the mysterious tiny white worms. Makes you wonder just what exactly is going on? Thanks for the info.

P.S re the bedding.....I've got a fair amount of egg-carton cardboard and leaf compost in there and bin is plywood with good circulation.
