I have the exact same bathroom which we just finished remodeling three months ago. You may not want to make as many changes as we did but it may give you a different perspective. BTW, I get a lot of flack about the hardwood floor in the bathroom but I'm the only one who uses it so I am very careful to not splash water on the floor and I live in a dry climate so there isn't a lot of humidity.

P.S. I had the same light fixture that you have. I replaced it with two fixtures, one above each sink. However, there doesn't seem to be enough light so I got a third fixture which I want to mount in between the two.

I'm not sure I understand - you say less is more but you have patterned towels, plants and a plant stand, 2 rugs and do-dads on the countertop. If less is more I would eliminate everything that isn't pertinent to a bathroom and keep towels to a solid, coordinating color.
