I concur with Fusion's best recommendations for both bush & pole shellies.

There are quite a few other shelly varieties I grow (mostly heirlooms) but to be honest, other than Goose, I don't know how they would perform in a warmer climate. Chester (a.k.a. Skunk or Flagg) and Dolloff are large-seeded, productive shellies with short DTM's, both originally from the Northeast... and both are (or have been) offered on commercial websites. Striped Cornfield is a highly productive shelly similar to Speckled Cranberry. Bird Egg #3 has huge shellies - among the largest - with cranberry-like markings. BE#3 is mentioned in quite a few threads on this forum... aside from SSE (which has yet to offer it publicly) seeds are only available from me & from those I have sent seed in the past.

Several pole varieties need a longer growing season than mine, and might do well for you. Isla is a variety similar to True Red Cranberry, but the seeds are slightly smaller, more purplish than red, and more productive. I sent seed to someone in California, and it performed very well for them. An heirloom originally from Sicily, Chicklet, has tightly-packed white seeds in pods similar to True Red Cranberry, and wonderful flavor. If you would like to try one of these, send me a PM.

Rose (sent to me by former GW member Gardenlad) is also long season, and is primarily a snap bean (and a good one)... but it also makes excellent shellies. It is carried by Bill Best's Sustainable Mountain Agriculture, so you might want to contact him for other recommendations. heirlooms.org
