Aphids?> How do I get rid of aphids?

I have a friend that's had a few rounds with aphids on plants she's brought indoors. She's done the following -

- Homemade spray - 2 tablespoons dish soap (Ivory type) to 1 gallon water and a 1/2 tsp of mint extract (she's used mouthwash too). Pour into spray bottle and spray entire plant (both sides of leafs) and spray the soil. Spray any aphids that have fallen onto table/floor too. Rinse plant after 1-2 hours. Repeat in a few days and then once a week to control.

- Banana Peel - lay banana peels on soil.

If you can, take the plant outdoors and give it a good blast with the garden hose or give it a good shower indoors. Then start a course of action of your choosing to follow for your indoor treatment. A quick search on the internet should give you ideas to try as well.

I hate aphids, never experienced white ones, but they come in colors of the rainbow it seems, I delt with brown, red, blue, and green. They reproduce quickly so key is to treat them for a few weeks to get rid of them and the eggs that hatch once you kill the cycle you should be good. A lot of good ideas already. Almost everyday l remove the aphids at the back of my pepper plant manually. ( applicable for a few plants on a small garden only ). Recently l found out that aphids does not dwell on wet leaves then l decided spraying with dish soap and mixed with neem oil in a gallon of water. But it causes the leaves to dried up quickly. A biologist friend recommended just spray with plain water at the back of the leaves so it wont affect the plant. It helps. A bit tedious but 85 to 90% effective. To make it more effective do it everday anytime of the day. My recommendations are based on my personnal experienced only. I hope l can find recommendations that is not laborious as mine.
