Be patient with palms.

I have three large, containerized Queen Palms. Last Winter was very harsh and one suffered bud loss in its shelter in early Spring. I waited all Summer for signs of new life. The foliage was still green bud I though it was a goner. When I bought my other Queens into their winter shelter, I left the one presumed to be a goner outside. Been fairly mild but there has been frost. Today, I looked inside and I see a green spear emerging. This is almost 9 months after the loss! People need to exercise some patience before assuming their palms suffering bud loss are doomed.

I wish I would've waited with my pygmys, but I lost mine to root rot, all the leaves died before spear pulled, on each one of them. Everything I read at the time said they don't come back from that and to dispose of them. But I'm glad your Queen is making a recovery, especially after 9 months, that's truly impressive.

I think you have a chance if all the leaves are actually green and healthy looking AND you have bud loss; no green leaves and bud loss..., I would toss that too. But my experience is that different species can recuperated if there is bud loss but the plant still has healthy leaves. It just takes TIME.
