Autumn Blooms....

Here are some of my hoyas that have flowered this fall for me so far.I will be posting here till December 21st,then start a new thread for winter blooms.Feel free to post your flowers here as well! H. mindorensis started flowering at the end of September, outside and continued to form buds after i brought to plant inside in mid October under led lights.note the color variation on the same plant!

H.subcalva flowered in my bedroom under led lights at normal humidity(50%) on average. It produced a lot of peduncles, but many of the buds blasted, maybe because of the lower humidity.I moved it into my mini greenhouse,in hopes of more blooms..but nothing.Even some of the peduncles dried up and fell off!Perhaps it did not like the switch to the new location. We will see how it adjusts. Here are the flowers from the one that made it!Yes they do smell like grape juice!

    You have some lovely Hoyas.

Very beautiful, Jan. Just like your incrassata, when my Hindu Rope start to flower everywhere, I know the roots are about to go bad. Then orange leaves, then wrinkled leaves. Then chop it up and restart. I hope its easy for you to save.

tawnygrisette, I grow all Hoyas out side but I have to cover them up when it gets under 50, some times I push & wait until under 40 if it's only for a few hours but the plants really recent me and start to pout.

Thanks Marco...if they only smelled like butterscotch! Here is a first time bloomer for me,just opened today.Hoya sp. UT-163. They smell like cinnamon candy...really nice!

So pretty, Jimmy! Do you guys fertilize with a blooming nutrient solution? I think I remember Denise saying she used Cha Ching (lol). I've got some FoxFarm nutes but they're all geared for root development.

Thanks Tawny!I use Osmocate Plus sprinkled on top of the soil twice a year..less in winter.I don't mix it in with the soil...jut sits on top.I also infuse the soil with good microbes and mycorrhizae( Great White brand) every 3 months. It helps keep the roots healthy and also helps the plants absorb the nutrients more effectively.Every now and then I add kelp extract, Hi-Brix molasses(Earth Juice brand),humic acid. These keep the microbes happy and well fed.I use half of what the bottle says. These are usually rotated once a month .
