Can't Replace Christmas Lights Fuse

I have these 50' Home Accent Multi-colored icicle lights I bought from Home Depot a few years ago that won't light up anymore. This is typically a fuse issue so I tried to replace the fuses in the male electrical plug, but for the love of gd I cannot get the replacement fuses to pop into the slots in the plug compartment. It is so darn frustrating, I actually busted one of the fuses trying to push it into its fuse slot in the electric plug compartment. I had another set of lights manufactured from a different company that was the same - no matter what I tried I could not get the fuse to seat into the fuse slots in the power cord plug. Is there some sort of hidden secret to getting these d@m!^% fuses to fit into the fuse slot correctly in the electrical plug compartment? I have searched and searched and searched the internet trying to find any other person out there that has written of similar woes trying to replace a simple little fuse in Christmas lights strings. Maybe its just me or I have an unfortunate coincidence with two different christmas light strings that the replacement fuses will not fit into the slots properly. Appreciate any insights. This may become the only post on the internet about the topic of christmas light fuses not fitting into the slots in the electric plug. Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas everyone! Brian
