I'm smiling!!! Apparently the meet and greet went well?! Did the girls think he was just the best? Is he healthy or needs your TLC to be his best? I hope you can get a shot of all 3 together.

ps how much do these dogs eat, 2 cups each a day?

Oh wow, he's so sweet looking but seems as if he could have some mischief in him too. :c) The girls better look out! LOL

I love his markings, very handsome. Knowing how you are with animals it doesn't surprise me Nina, but he looks so relaxed and at ease. Love that.

My 64 pound Greyhound gets 1000 kCal per day - that's two level cups of my food per day. I'm guessing Samsung weighs quite a bit more than my girl... lol. When asking about the number of cups per day one should identify the Caloric Density (Calories per cup) of the food. My food is 498 Calories per cup, which is actually quite high. Were I feeding a different kibble it might require three cups per day.

My dogs do not get treats, per se. I bait and reward with just pieces of kibble, maybe twenty or thirty pieces per day. And of course, any calories taken in from beer while watching football on TV with me don't really count - for either of us.

thanks, everybody! he and the girls are pretty much joined at the hip. the king size bed is a blessing! they all sleep with me. destiny and samson are the only ones who have to be as close as possible. olivia is happy just to be up there. :)

i knew i shoulda bought that sectional sofa!

left them alone today for the first time. went to work, i was gone for about 5 hours. when i got home, i got mobbed! glad i only have to do that a couple of times a week! LOL

My oh my!!!! What remarkable pictures. Let's see, it's Samson on the left on the sofa, Destiny on the right, and Olivia on the ground, correct? Size-wise, it must be like having three people live with you! Anyway, no doubt the relationships will continue to develop over the months ahead, but looks like you are off to a good start. Do you know anything of Samson's story?

yes, it's kinda like having 3 people who all want your undivided attention all at the same time. LOL

you are correct...samson, destiny, olivia on the floor. when the dogs are outside at a distance, i have a hard time telling the harls apart!

i don't really know much about samson's background. at some point, someone took the time to teach him sit, shake, down. he has a good recall. we will have to work on "stay" because he wants to follow me everywhere. he's a little jealous when i give attention to the other dogs but he's getting much better about that. he definitely knows what "no" means!

LOL! I can't imagine that there is room in your bed for YOU! Looks like he's been with you and the girls forever, already.

he and destiny get the zoomies a LOT. so much fun to watch them but OMG, samson is like a bull in a china shop. i have to kick 'em outside!

LOL! I can't imagine those big critters getting the "zoomies" in the house! When I die, I want to come back as one of Ninapearl's doggies.

Haha Ninapearl, earlier I referenced a friend who had 3 Danes and you responded that there'd be no sibling for your girls. Glad that you made room in your heart and home for another!

you're right, i did say that. i have been keeping a bit of an open mind and wasn't planning to do this quite so soon but when i met this guy, i simply couldn't send him back with them. while they are a very sweet young couple, they have NO idea what it takes to care for a giant breed dog and eventually, he would have ended up either in a shelter or with somebody who would use him as a stud dog. he is a diamond in the rough but once i get him neutered and get his tail healed up, as well as put about 30# on him, he's gonna be a force to be reckoned with! :)

Oh. I was kinda hoping it was fortuitous due to my subliminal message….

do me a favor, nannygoat, don't send me any more subliminal messages for a while...

Nina, have you seen the videos on the internet about the GD George and Bella the little girl he helps as a service dog? In case not, here's a youtube video.

i've seen several stories about bella and george and each one warms my heart! he is a great dog!!

samson is set for his neuter on thursday. unfortunately, no matter what i do (antibiotics, wrapping, etc.), we cannot get his tail to heal. i know it bothers him so my vet and i decided the best thing would be to dock. he will become a member of the "stub club" and will be left with about 6" of tail. happy tail is a major pain and is almost impossible to get completely healed. he is such a happy guy and his tail wags constantly. it only takes one whack against a cabinet and the sore opens up all over again. ugh!

Glad you've seen George and Bella, Nina. I imagine Bella has gained a lot of strength in her legs walking with the dog. What a sweet, special animal.

Oh dear, will the vet do his tail when he has his other surgery? Will he be completely "asleep?" That tail must hurt, and maybe blood circulation in long tails isn't enough to get it to heal. Sounds like a wise idea to just get it over with instead of struggling for months and then possibly doing the surgery.

Poor Samson...sounds like the tail dock is the best solution. I will be sending good wishes to him on Thursday.

Our lab, Spencer, sometimes has a case of happy tail. When it bleeds my house gets totally spattered. Even after clean up, if a crime team used luminal, it they would swear a murder took place. We were considering docking it when it healed up...for now, anyway. Meanwhile spencer is recovering from liver surgery, so no docking in the near future.

sending good wishes for Samson on Thursday.

yes, socks, the tail dock will go along with the neuter since he will already be under. he managed to get his wrap off yesterday while i was at work but i got him outside before he started whacking cabinets when i came inside because he's always so excited to see me. my deck looks like a slaughterhouse so i'm hoping for some rain! ugh!! i will be so glad to get this over with and have him all healed up! everyone i have talked to says the recovery from tail docking is pretty uneventful and most times, the dog didn't even need to wear the cone of shame. i'll be staying home from thursday till monday to keep an eye on him.
