weekend Hoya binge

This morning I went to the local swapmeet and bought more Hoyas than I should have, but not as many as I wanted.

I picked up two small Krimson Queens, an australis and a longifolia for $4 ea.

I also bought a Hindu Rope from the same seller (to be delivered) for 8 and two cuttings of a fragrant cream hoya that looks similar to potsii for 2.50. I'm going to try and root them in water.

The big bargain was a huge australis in a hanging basket for $20.

There were other big flowering specimens of carnosa and pubicalyx silver pink, but I resisted.

I went on a little Hoya bender myself yesterday. You got a great deal on those healthy looking plants, that australis is amazeballs.

Keeps getting better. Just got gifted a nice heart trelis. Just need to decide who's going on it ...

    Adam you have done well!

Just got these pubicalyx 'black dragon' s through a work friend.

wWll need to pot them on and grow them up a bit.

The longifolia is actually, I believe, shepherdii. Nice haul! I rarely find any Hoyas locally.

When will H australis flower in Perth?

The plant has lots of old spikes, but no sign of new buds. Will they come in autumn or will I have to wait til next year? Today is the first day of summer.

The plant was almost desiccated when I bought it, but I've soaked it thoroughly and treated or to a drink of worm wee. I might give it a feed of strikeback for orchids in a few days.

I never tried to root one in water. I just stuck cuttings in a 4" pot and they rooted. My hoyas only bloom in the summer time.

Got greeted this evening by the Hindu rope.

Nice healthy leaves, but the mix looked too heavy for my liking so i decided to quickly repot it and was unsurprised to find hardly any roots. It's now in a mix of succulent and small grade pine bark orchid mix. i have staked it fully upright too.

The mystery creams are putting out roots!

Australis has aspirations of taking over the whole pergola. No complaints here .

the bigger mystery cream rooted nicely in water, so I decided to pot it up.

The top leaf and section of stem on the smaller cutting had died, so I was all set too bin it when I discovered it had rooted at the bottom. Hopefully It does ok with just one leaf.

Plus I treated myself to a minibelle today.
