Many people use a 5:1:1 mix of Pine Bark fines, Perlite, and Peat. Also doesn't hurt to put some crushed limestone. Your figs need potted up when the roots are trying to circle the pot. Also, If you want them to go dormant why are they still in your grow room? Get them in conditions where the temps are in the 40's and near freezing and they will go to sleep. It will do them good to rest a few months before putting on new growth next year.

They just kept growing this fall, lots of new green growth even as it got colder. I am in a very cold climate so it's hard to hold them at the right temperature, cold enough to go dormant but not cold enough to freeze. I know it's best for them to but I think it's too late for this year. They still have green growth and figs on, I just got my first fig yesterday!
