FIREPLACE DESIGN PROJECTS: PART 2

Fireplaces have been a part of our history for centuries, and there is no greater focal point in a room than a fireplace. Let me walk you through two of SENGA interior design’s fireplace projects and how this relates to the 2 key elements of designing a fireplace.

KEY ELEMENT OF FIREPLACE DESIGN #1: WHAT IS YOUR ULTIMATE DESIGN GOAL?

As with most remodeling ideas that become projects, you must first establish a design goal.

Ask yourself how you want to personalize your mantle. Do you want a traditional centerpiece with timeless elegance? Or perhaps you are looking for the ultimate showpiece to complement an art collection. Be sure to, choose a look that achieves your design objective.

Here is a project from one of our clients:

PREVIOUS FIREPLACE DESIGN

NEW FIREPLACE DESIGN

In this stunning transformation, the homeowners wanted to craft a mantle founded on traditional elegance. Centered on a classic design, the white color palette is a timeless design element.

To achieve the main design goal, this fireplace was constructed to showcase the homeowner’s exquisite art pieces. The gorgeous white mantle plays off the wall color and draws in your eye to establish the perfect canvas.

Take a look at Sherwin Williams’ 2016 color of the year for more home interior color trends. Much like the mantle above, white is in again!

KEY ELEMENT OF FIREPLACE DESIGN #2: CHOOSE YOUR MEDIUM

Once you have a design goal, choosing a material to work with is key.

There are many options to customize your fireplace design! Wooden beams to granite slabs, limestone, and more.

Check out this one-of-a-kind fireplace redesign that we completed for a client with a very specific vision:

PREVIOUS FIREPLACE DESIGN

NEW FIREPLACE DESIGN

This custom fireplace design used very small tile pieces to hug the original architecture while amplifying the overall aesthetic feel of the mantle.

The homeowners had a unique concept and envisioned a design in line with the arts and crafts style of their interior design.
