It's lighter with eggs and less sugar. Not as dense as shortbread.

You will probably need to add more flour to have them roll out. I've never tried that.

The spritz dough I've used was fairly soft so dropping it by a spoon may work without adding extra flour. Might need chilling. Sprinkles, a piece of candied cherry or almond can decorate them. Come to think of it you could drop a piece of dough (under the size of a walnut) and press it with a glass dipped in sugar. Not too flat if the recipe has no baking powder or soda.

I gave away my old cookie gun. After a few years had a hankering to make them again. Aughh. Prices on new guns. Yipee for thrift stores. It was a screw type. A period of adjustment! Grew to love it.
