Holly Fern Leaf Spots

Got a holly fern from a friend, and it was doing okay until a month ago. Now the leaves are withering up - from the base, at the tip, you name it. Fronds will turn yellow or brown, then just dry up, and then on to another frond - you can see it happening to the frond at bottom left. Theres new growth, but this prpblem is affecting that too. and now little brown circles on the leaves, like at the middle right frond. Not spores but something like blight circles?? No idea.

anybody know what this is? blight, overwatering?

looks awful sodden for a fern ...

where are you ... is it outdoors ,,... how cold has it been getting at night???

how long have you had it .... what is your watering regimen ...do you let it near dry in between waterings ....

did you repot it when you got it ...

if temps have been going down ... have you slowed down watering???

It's been indoors, ~70 degree temp. Since the heat's been on a bit more with the wintertime, I've had it on a dish full of pebbles and a bit of water to keep the humidity up. As for repotting, it was in a huge pot when I first got it, so I potted it down to the size here.

The soil is pretty damp - I try to only water it when the top inch of soil is dry, but since its last watering the soil just hasn't dried out.

was it outdoors in fall ... did you get it indoors at the time ...

or outside.. just for the pic ...
