how do you care for it.. in terms of water ...

how long has it been potted.... do you fert ....

its usually my position.. that a plant that is flowering.. cant be all that unhappy .... but it MIGHT need some fert .. in the proper season.. which might not be winter ... if so.. i would use 1/4 strength with each watering ... but dont jump that gun yet ...

when is the last time you changed out the media... it might be wearing out ...

btw .. there is an exception .. some times a plant.. on the edge of death.. will flower.. just before death.. my theory.. one last shot at trying to procreate ...

Does your pot have drainage? They only want 1/2 strength fertilizer. Where do you live?

Henry, bougainvillea are heavy feeders, and must be fertilized with a balanced product on a regular basis. Use a half dose every time or every other time you water. You can't keep them happy unless the soil is well drained and coarse textured. The container must have drain holes, of course.

Depending upon where you are, these plants will bloom heavily most of the year. I agree that yours looks sick, depleted.

Hi every one, Thank you for all of your comments. I live in Palm Coast, Florida(zone 9). Weather of my living area is very warm and humid. There are drain hoses under the pot. But, I might put too much fertilizer(10-10-10) to it.

you are much better off.. using water soluble fert when dealing with pots...

and always use it half or 1/4 strength ...

as one might say.. you can always add more.. next time... rather than too much at once...

btw ... i used to buy 10-10-10 by the 50 pound sack.. so when he said he used such ... i presumed he meant granule .... rather than water sol ... and that is not supported by what he said ... but maybe a good guess... i dont know...
