I like it! (3x9 tile gets my vote)

I prefer the 3x9 too.

I had 3x12 in previous kitchen and this time went for 4x8. I much prefer a larger subway. It seems to open up the space a lot.

Last time I was trying to choose, I was somewhat/extremely TKO and got a roll of paper and drew out the two sizes of subways in sharpie and pinned them to the wall to see the effect of both. It was quite different and gave me a good idea of how each would look in the room rather than trying to hold up one or two small tiles.

daisychain, do you have a picture of yours you can share?

I know it's kind of hard to tell which is the before and which is the after as both look a bit of a disaster. The tiles in the first 2 pics are the 4x12 s and in the last 2 pics are the 4x8s. Still wondering if I should have done the 6x6, but I really love subways and couldn't picture the kitchen without them even if they are uber trendy.

navy momma, I meant to say that I love your choices! I know 2 toned kitchens are not for everyone, but I (obviously) love them. I love the grey you've chosen especially - warm and earthy. Keep posting pics.

They're not trendy. The reason why they're in many high-end decorating magazines is because they're timeless. They may seem "trendy" in design mags and on Houzz forums, but that's because most of these kitchens are STUNNING. In my neighborhood, few remodel with the subway and I live in a nice OC neighborhood, and I should note that not one of these $60k+ kitchen remodels in my neighborhood will be in a magazine either.
