Glass Countertop

This isn't one of my jobs, but I helped on the installation. A fabricator pays about $125.00 per square foot for this plus shipping, so you can imagine how much he's going to have to charge to cover his risks and make a dollar. You can't let $9.00-an-hour Jimmy look at this, let alone touch it, either.

I wouldn't want to touch it!! It is cool looking but I would be terrified of breaking it!!!

The overhang is kind of scary, but a branch of our local library has glass countertops for the reference/check out areas and they seem to be holding up fine after several years. Beautiful, too. But their overhang is only about 6 in.

Gorgeous! But I'm with Texas Gem; I'd be terrified of breaking it. Are glass counters made of tempered or laminated glass? If so, that's a little less scary but I still can't get TV and movie fight scene images of someone getting thrown across a glass table, shattering it, out of my head. =)

Ive had fancy glass table tops and they scratch like crazy, tempered or not, pricey or not. never again. Hope this person enjoys it for the few months its gonna last looking as in the pic.
