In case some of you are as plant nerdy as I, over on the Name that Plant forum, which tends to be sluggish at this time of year, there has been a delightful series of posts on various native plants. The two most common posters live in Arkansas (jekeesl) and Oregon (macranthos), so I'm being introduced to all sorts of plants that are new to me, though a few others have chipped in as well. The title either has the plant name (not usual on that forum where folks come to get IDs) or start with the phrase "Winter Doldrums". There are probably 15 or 20 by now with some nice photos and usually a short write-up that includes where it is found, both in habitat and geography.
