French country style bathroom - wall colour?

Hello! We have recently bought Our first house - woop woop! Lots to do starting with the bathroom:

I'm going for a French country cottagey type style. I love these tiles:

and I'm keen on this style taps and fittings:

I'm thinking of doing bead boarding/tongue and groove half wall and on side of bath, similar to this:

White towels? I want a light, fresh feeling as its a small bathroom.

Questions:

- what type of blue would go on the wall? Match with tiles or is that too dark?

- would white bead boarding be fresh or clash with tiles? Should I go more Ivory?

- white towels?

I love your choices! I love those tiles - and I've got a beadboard and blue powder room and a French Country cottage kitchen (at least according to my French sister in law). I think if you bring in the blue from the tile - maybe a lighter shade in either the wall, or even in the beadboard it would be pretty.

It looks like you are planing a tub with a deck - but if you go with a club foot, you could paint it to coordinate.

You can also consider doing the breadboard in a less bright white than in your inspiration photo. A duller white (below pic) that goes with the floor tile might work. European cottage bathrooms seem more muted in tone than modern counterparts.

Love the tiles. But the beadboard doesn't say "French" to me. Where will you put the tiles?

If the tiles go part way up the wall, you could do an old world sort of paint treatment for the rest of the walls and ceiling.

Tiles for the floor. Yea I'm not set on sticking to completely 'French'... Had originally thought coastal but then found the tiles.

How do you get that paint effect?

Can you post more photos of your bath and tell us the size, your plans for the space (remodel or just more tweaking?), and a general budget?

For the style I am thinking plantation shutters on the windows. You could do white cabinets or mix in dark old world furniture pieces.

Love the shutters!

Complete remodel. I can't get any more pics as we're not actually in yet... That is an estate agent pic, taking ownership on 3rd Jan.

Complete remodel but trying drinkers costs low as we are song up whole house. Keeping sink but putting in new toilet and bath. Just plain white - anything I can find cheap and nice from gumtree! Budget is around £3000 (including labour).

If there is space at the end of the bath I'm keen for something like this:

And maybe a mirror similar to this:

Found this under stories, about low country style (Savannah, Charleston area). Don't know how much of it centers on the bath.
