When you show just tiny little shots of the room it is difficult to make color suggestions ...we need to see the whole room also ...to see how many walls are involved ..the size ...the light ...etc.

I bought an old drop leaf table for the bay window and I thought about painting it cream. I'm just ready for a change but on a tight budget! Seeking a calmer look but as you can see, I'm all about color!!!

Thanx for the perfect photos...can see that you you don't have many walls to paint ..good light ..and stone counters that are all alone in the lighter color range...this is a perfect opportunity to add some contrast that will accentuate your bright colors and tie in the lighter counters at the same time...try selecting a lighter color from the countertops and re- painting the walls that color...this way you may not need to paint the table and will have a total different feel without much work or expense..whatever you do post a picture to show the new look

Try using Aqua color for walls. as for the frames use the color white. when I use terracotta floor I usually try to make the cupboards dark chocolate. this would make the room look bigger and everything would stand out by itself. cheers. keep me posted

Pale green or aqua walls, I agree. Your third photo shows blue ceramics on a shelf- do you like those colors? White trim to match wood blinds. Remove the curtains for a week or two to see how you'd like the room without them.

I love aqua...I have it in the trim but much bolder. I'm thinking I might like a soft aqua. I would love to do something with the cabinets but I don't have it in me to strip them! What if I antiqued them with a dark brown gel poly? ... Would that make the room busy? .... Would it work? ...And still do the moldings in cream/ soft white? Thanks EVERYONE for the feedback!!! You are looking for a calmer look, so don't paint a contrasting wall color (aqua, blue, green) even a soft version. Those are complementary colors to your orange tones, and will make you room more busy looking. Stick with a pale warm neutral for the walls, and a warm white for the trim.

Agree with Partim. Try painting the walls first before changing your cabinets. You might find that is all you need to do.

I agree with Ritasj and partim about choosing a light color from your counters for the walls. Just make sure to pick a color with warm undertones to tie in with the flooring and cabinets. This is a great kitchen.

I would neutralize the walls, crown and trim, then add a pop of turquoise or aqua with a new backsplash.

Thanks for all the input. It will be a project I will start after the holidays but I'm going for paint samples soon!! If I use warm biege tan tones and cream white for trim, what about ceilings? Love backsplash idea but trying to stay close to budget. Still open to more suggestions.

Here's a warm white and a yellow with crown and trim painted white. I'd take down all the scrolly things.

I would move more towards a light taupe...something leaning more gray brown than orange brown. It will help downplay the orange and yellow undertones of floor, cabinets and counters and neutralize it a bit more. Invest in some paint samples and pain them right on the wall. Good luck!

The taupe has a huge impact..makes your colors look entirely different with a very small change and effort

If you are on a budget I recommend painting your ceiling a nice soft white, and the biggest improvement will be to paint ALL trim and molding a clean white.... You might like your existing wall color when that is done! Use turquoise sparingly in accessories.
