Frost/Freeze warnings December 2015

Hi all, let's start a fresh new thread about the frost/freeze warnings we've had this week, December 2015. Did you get a frost? A freeze? Any plant damage? Did you cover stuff?

I got dangerously close to a frost (N. Scottsdale) but was barely spared. I don't cover plants any more (summer or winter) and everything looks totally fine (I had already ripped out basil though, LOL). What about where you are? It's fun to talk weather and gardening so don't be shy!

I always check out the wunderground weather app each morning with my coffee. It's so interesting to see the variations in temperature from street to street. Love that thing.

I posted in the December thread this pic, but here it is again: calendula and lobelia can tolerate frosts and freezes so if you're in a chilly part of Phoenix or Tucson, they're a good worry free winter option, just make sure to water them after freezes.

Well Grant it has been nothing but cold up here in Camp Verde. Two days ago we got down to 20 here in the valley. The rocks are rising up out of the ground which is rock hard.... LOL Interestingly we have had no snow so far. We had a little flurry last week but nothing stuck. Its 3:00 here right now and it spit a little earlier but no rain. We are diffidently socked in and can't see the white mountains or Mingus Mountain. As for plants they diffidently have seen better days, most are just brown and waiting for spring like their owner. I don't think I have had less than 3 shirts on for the last 2 weeks. Under, over, and a sweat shirt and that's in the house. I kind of look like the Pillsbury dough boy with out the hat.

Up-date ..its 3:30 the wind is blowing hard and I just went out to get the mail. I can see my breath. I feel like I am in a Clydesdale beer commercial.

Looks like we're in for another few cold nights over the weekend and into next week a little. I went outside in a tshirt a few minutes ago and was reminded what cold is :)

Hi all, thanks for the updates! I just got back to the Valley Sunday night after 9 days away (Silicon Valley, CA). The garden looks really good, I'm happy to report. LOL, iandyaz, that's funny about the tee shirt. LOL too @campv! I haven't gone to that extreme yet, but I HAVE taken to wearing a stocking cap out in the garden this week before work. It's chilly!

Here's a quick pic of my big ol' pot of geraniums/lobelia/petunias/ornamental sweet potato this morning. They did fine even with me being away.
