Red Sprite is one of the early blooming females, but Southern Gentleman is late blooming, so there is very little overlap of their bloom time. Jim Dandy has the best overlap with Red Sprite, but Raritan is a midseason bloomer, so has some overlap of bloom time. Based on my experience with Winter Red (late blooming) and my native male winter berries (early), I wouldn't try it. I got virtually no berries despite heavy bloom, so when I spotted a Southern Gentleman this year, I planted him. I expect good berry set next year.

Just be aware that they are quite differently sized plants. Red Sprite is about 3' tall and wide, while Winter Red is about twice as tall and more than twice as wide IME.

Thank you for pointing that important factor out. Fortunately, I want it for the back of a large perennial border and winter interest. I must admit I selected 'Winter Red' because of M. Dirr's comment that its red berries last well into March/April compared to the other cultivars, and its manageable size, but did not check the size of 'Red Sprite'. I would consider 'Red Sprite' for another location near the front of a bed since ornamental compact shrubs are always useful to me.
