Potting my plummy question

I just spent about 2 hrs reading up on your preferred soil mixes for plumerias and it seems Al's gritty mix is the way to go. And actually I'm thinking it could work well for some of my orchids.

Just to be sure I've got it I can make it using equal parts of Napa #8822, Gran-I-it grower size ( which I already have for my chickens) and pine bark (which I use for my orchids.

Ok, so just as I thought I had it figured out I stumbled across one of Laura's post where she says: "But in the spring when i make more mix ...i am going to change to this ... 4-3-2

4 parts turface
3 parts fir bark
2 parts granigrit

This gritty mix works well...you can change to this ratio for the hot climate here. I will keep the DR in the 1-1-1 and the Plumiera in the 4-3-2".

So since I live in FL should I go with the 4-3-2? And one more question - what about fertilizing?
