Yellow stripes - vertical or horizontal?

We're thinking of painting our little girl's bedroom yellow - wide-ish stripes (12" or so) in same shade but different finishes so results aren't too dramatic (matte/sheen). However, this room isn't a perfect square with some cutouts and an angled ceiling. Which way would you do the stripes - horizontal or vertical or not at all? Don't want it to look like a circus tent! 3 pics attached. Thanks!

I'd just do the accent wall, and mimic the diagonal of the ceiling.

Only 2 pics posted. Try wide horizontal stripes on the little bumpout and see how you like it. It is easier to paint the entire room and then return with a satin clear poly to create the effect. Once you get the room painted, you may not want the adventure of stripping it!

Another option, and I do like those already suggested, would be a three tone ombre, to save you doing anything complicated with those angled ceilings; the first color transition would be below all of that, with your lightest white or cream on both the ceiling and top of the walls.
