Asbestos is only harmful when airborne. Were the pieces small enough to float in the air? aka grinding or sanding ?

I am guessing there is still some mastic on the floor, just encapsulate it with some epoxy paint. Dont expose the family to the paint fumes. Clean all surfaces well and run a HEPA air cleaner. Should be good to go.

Most workplaces with old buildings are loaded with asbestos btw, we are all exposed here and there to it in low amounts. We have all been exposed to it as children here and there as well. People that get cancer are those that worked with it daily like floorers, mudders, roofers, manufacturers.

The torch may have made some of it airborne by scraping, but it is a one time exposure. Just remember to wear a good mask or respirator in the future when demo'ing anything, this will limit your possible exposure. Always consider asbestos when demo'ing, especially flooring (tile, black mastic, and vinyl felt backed)
